Dear Dancing Pigs fans and friends,

This "month's" Newsletter is a little late, since the last one was in March, but you know how Pigs are.  If you're interested, we've added previous newsletters to the signup page at http://www.cincinnatidancingpigs.com/newsletter.html

Upcoming gigs of ours include these fine yearly occurring events:

1.  Rivertown Breakdown at Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky is "a show about the river, for the river, by the river".  Saturday, June 9th, starts 8:15pm

Jake Speed, of "Jake Speed and The Freddies" and a friend of The Pigs, graciously puts on this benefit show for the Ohio River "River Sweep".  Not only is it for a worthy cause, but there are lots of great local musicians playing there, including: Karen Bergquist and Linford Detweiler (of "Over The Rhine"), Katie Lauer, The Stardevils (a great Rockabilly group), Lagniappe (Cajun), Ricky Nye (boogie-woogie piano), The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars, and The Sidecars, among others. Information about this musical benefit is at http://www.rivertownbreakdown.com/index.php. The publicity picture attached to this newsletter, which shows members of 5 groups playing at Southgate House this weekend, has Pig Keith Baker in it, proving once again the old adage, "Nothing says Jug Band like a washboard?" (right Eric?)

2.  The Queen City Balladeers Edensong 2007 - We Pigs, in one form or the other, have been playing in this event off and on since 40 years ago.  It's a nice place to be on a Friday night, sitting on the hillside or a park bench in Eden Park and listening to folk music.  See http://www.qcballadeers.org/SpecEvents.htm for information.  We play Friday night, July 20, 8-10pm.  This is one of four consecutive Friday night concerts, starting July 6th.  The Queen City Balladeers organization is directly responsible for the Pigs still playing today, three of the five of us being original members.  Playing with us on our Friday night is "Ma Crowe and The Mother Pluckers", with Natalie Cunningham, who occasionally steps in for bass player Tom Beck.  The Mother Pluckers are also friends of the Pigs.

There are a few new things on our website:

- The Pigs have un-archived old reel-to-reel concert tapes we have of John Denver from years ago (almost 40) and we've placed selected songs on this page: http://www.cincinnatidancingpigs.com/concerts.html. Most of these John Denver and Denver, Boise & Johnson songs and concerts have never been heard before.  Some of the John Denver songs come from a concert at the Queen City Balladeers Wise Owl Coffeehouse in Cincinnati in May of 1969.

- We hope to have more frequent new pictures on our website, including pictures of a new monthly drawing by Kristen Pattison on the board outside of Arnold's when we play.  See http://www.cincinnatidancingpigs.com/see.html for Kristen's drawing from December of last year, and one new picture from Rabbit Hash.

Other newsworthy Pig Events are:

- Eric Buhrer is now a proud first time grandfather, Jaden Edith Buhrer having been born in May

- Tom and Mindy Beck will be proud parents, having a baby this August

Coming up in the next newsletter:

- Tom Beck will share his memories of playing bass for Pigmeat Jarrett, a local Cincinnati blues legend
- Selected original limericks from the audience during the 3rd set at Arnolds will be included, and a limerick tutorial

Thanks,

The Pigs
